Batmobile polybag 30161 - Review

Thanks to a very kind and generous Bricksetter, I was able to get my hands on a couple of copies of the Batmobile polybags. So far, these have only been available during the recent Sun promotion over in the UK. I eagerly look forward to the day when some US publication gives out free polys with the purchase of a cheap paper.

My polys arrived the other day and I just could not wait to build the Batmobile. It's obviously super small, but I was looking forward to seeing how this one would come together.

Inside the bag you get 48 bricks and a small instruction sheet. You use 45 of those bricks to build the Batmobile and three are extra. A full list of the parts is available here.

Construction is pretty simple, as you would expect, and the set comes together in just a few minutes. There's a great selection of parts in here, including a really nice curved 4x2 black slope and some shiny silver wheels. All of them together make a fairly impressive version of the Batmobile in this scale. You have flames shooting out of the back and a good use of slopes to give it sort of an aerodynamic and sleek feel.

I love Batman, so this set was pretty much a must have for me. If you can find a copy of the poly for under $5 shipped then it's worth picking it up. I probably would not go much higher than that though, unless you jus can't live without one in your collection.

I'd initially thought about skipping most of the vehicle-only polybags, since the biggest appeal seems to be getting a minifig and small set for under $5. However, I think this set has changed my mind. I hope I can track down a Quinjet. Not sure where that one's shown up yet.

  1. Thanks for the great little review. Short, but sweet.
